RACE NUMBER

Your race number will be sent to you prior to the race. Please ensure on entering the race that you provide an address that you will be living in at the time of the race! The race number must be firmly attached to the FRONT of your top. YOU MUST WRITE ON THE BACK OF YOUR NAME AND EMERGENCY DETAILS - if something happens to you during the race this allows us immediately to have important details about you.

TIMING

This is a fundamentally a fun, community run for all abilities and disabilities. A finisher's clock will be provided for you to see your time, but the run is not chip-timed. Please note this does not mean that exceptionally talented runners do not take part! They do!

THE START / VILLAGE / FINISH

Come and mingle in our Village area in Orleans Gardens (TW1 3BL) from 8.30am. This is on the grassy area (Orleans Gardens) opposite Orleans Gardens café/House. You can find it to the right of the swings down, next to the cafe, by the river in Marble Hill Park, and we will move you to the actual start (outside The White Swan Pub (Riverside, Twickenham, Surrey TW1 3DN) in time for 10am.

There will be a trumpet fanfare on the start line.

PLEASE NOTE THE RACE DOES NOT START AT THE TURKS HEAD PUB.

To find the start from The Turks Head Pub it is right past St Margaret's station, down Crown Road, then crossing down to the bottom of Orleans Road onto Riverside.

THE ROUTE

Please click here for the Route Map.

The beautiful route passes along Twickenham Riverside, briefly touching on Twickenham and Strawberry Vale. Runners will then join the Thames towpath passing over Teddington Lock Bridge, Ham House, Petersham Fields and Richmond Upon Thames.

RACE HEADQUARTERS

The race HQ will be in the start/finish/village (Orleans Gardens, next to the swings on the river in Marble Hill Park). This will be open from 8.30am.

NO ENTRIES ON THE DAY

There are no entries on the day. Any transfer of your race number to another person must be notified to Sport Systems before 1st May 2024. There will be NO TRANSFERS ON RACE DAY.

HEADPHONES

The use of headphones on The Turks Head 10k is not recommended. We also believe we have such amazing marshals and such a great atmosphere that we don't want you to miss out on that!

Although our race is not affiliated with UKA we would like to adhere to their rules FOR YOUR SAFETY.

From 1 April 2016 a new rule regarding the wearing of headphones in road races was introduced into the 2016-2018 edition of the UKA Rules of Competition. “The wearing of headphones, or similar devices, (other than those medically prescribed), is not permitted in races on any single carriageway road that is not wholly closed to traffic. This restriction does not apply to races held on dual carriageways provided that there are clear, structured separations between the separate carriageways. Competition Providers of races held entirely on roads closed to traffic may apply this condition where appropriate to local circumstances.” Race Directors may apply the condition to any race where they consider the wearing of headphones to be a hazard - including, for example, where runners must be able to hear marshals' instructions or on a lap course, and UKA will support the race director where that local condition is applied. Enforcement of this rule is a matter for the race director and referee and disqualification of runners who choose to ignore it is an option. Race Directors should state at the point of entry and in all pre-race publicity whether or not headphones are banned because failure to do so could result in many runners appearing on the day expecting to run with them.

The rule book is available for reference at www.britishathletics.org.uk or to buy from Harry Hitchcock Ltd, Lyon House, 16 Lyon Road, Walton on Thames, Surrey, KT12 3PU; 01932 225591 - hhltd@btconnect.com
